You gotta have a goal

If you are going to stay motivated in any project, it's important to have a goal which is realistic and meaningful. There is no point picking a goal that is so big you feel you can never reach it. For example; become a millionaire isn't exactly realistic in the short term!

My first goal was just £50 which felt achievable but would still push me forward. When I hit this goal it made me believe in myself more, making my dream seem more possible. After I completed my first goal I upped the aim and completed that too. Now I had a new goal in my mind and would stop at nothing to achieve it—and then I just kept increasing my goals bit-by-bit.

You gotta have a meaningful goal to stay motivated

A good way to save money is to have a goal of an amount you need to save per year meaning you have to budget the amount you spend (spend less on stuff you don't need). A good way to do this is to figure out how much income you are making and then allow yourself to spend 10% and save the other 90%. For example; if you get £100 you can spend up to £10 and save a minimum of £90.

This is important because you wont stick to it if you can't also have fun and enjoy some of your money! So make sure your plan allows for some spending for sweets, footballs cards or other little treats you love!

Some people may think that they want to spend more than 10% which is fine, but remember if you truly do want to complete your goal then you will have to make the sacrifices.

Here are my top tips for goal setting

  1. Set a realistic goal that means something to you

  2. Allow yourself some fun spending too, so it isn't all save, save, save

  3. Turn your big vision into bite size mini-goals

Once you have a goal, you need to plan the actions you are going to take to achieve your goal, let's talk about that in another blog.

Always aim high,
